Macau (MNA) – The Secretary for Social Affairs Bureau, Alexis Tam Chon Weng, paid a visit to Lai Chi Vun shipyards in Coloane on Monday and learned that no shipyards had been damaged by Typhoon Mangkhut.

The Secretary, together with the Director and Deputy Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), Mok Ian Ian and Deland Leong Wai Man, talked to villagers living nearby about the situation during the passage of Typhoon Mangkhut.

Last year, one of 18 shipyards was completely destroyed by the strong wind of Typhoon Hato.

A representative of the Lai Chi Vun villagers said they had to moved all electrical appliances from the ground floor to the first floor of their homes before the typhoon hit the city.

The villagers also urged the government to improve the conditions of the sewage systems in the area.
