Macau | Melco to put 20 electric shuttles in operation in May

Macau (MNA) – Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited announced on Wednesday that it has purchased 20 electric buses to service passengers moving between its properties, to begin operations in May 2018.

The zero-emission fleet includes eighteen tour coaches and two public bus-style vehicles that will serve clients traveling between City of Dreams, Studio City and Altira Macau, with initial plans to operate the Macau Border Gate and Macau Ferry route.

“Together with the Macau SAR Government, Melco is committed to a greener Macau,” Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President, Chief Officer of Human Resources and Corporate Social Responsibility, was quoted as saying. “We hope to make the most effective use of resources and actively mitigate the impact of our operations on the environment.”

As of mid-March, the Director of the Transportation Bureau (DSAT), Kelvin Lam Hin San, said that nearly 15 per cent – or 50 to 60 shuttle buses of the some 430 shuttles operated by gaming operators in the city – will be using new energy by May 1 this year.
