Macau | Morpheus to launch hotel rooms in gradual phases

Macau (MNA) – The new flagship hotel of Melco Resorts & Entertainment – Morpheus – is going to launch its hotel rooms gradually by phases, with the first phase to introduce 200 to 300 rooms, said the company CEO Lawrence Ho Yau Lung (pictured) during a press conference on Friday prior the official opening of the property on the same day.

“After [we] make sure completing all trouble-shooting, we will gradually introduce 100 rooms per two weeks time,” indicated the CEO. “By the time in July, we will have all rooms put into operation.”

Featuring an avant-garde design by award-winning architectural firm helmed by the late Zaha Hadid, Morpheus will be able to accommodate guests in 772 rooms.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ho further revealed that the construction of Studio City Phase II – another property by Melco which targets more on family-based customers – will commerce construction in the third quarter this year.

The CEO reaffirmed that Phase II of Studio City will merely focus on non-gaming elements, with concentration upon entertainment.

Ho perceived that the current existing Studio City is adequate enough to accommodate additional gaming tables or slot machines in the future.

The Macau SAR Government has approved the plot concession for Phase II of Studio City of an extension of three years, with the construction of the new phase slated prior July 2021.
