Macau | Total value of exports for 2018 was MOP12.19 bln, up 8.1 pct y-o-y

Macau (MNA) – In a release on Thursday, the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) showed that the total value of goods exported in December of last year was MOP1.4 billion (US$173 million), up 15.4 per cent from the same period last year, while total value of exports for the whole year of 2018 was MOP12.19 billion, up 8.1 per cent year-on-year.

The value of imported goods increased by 0.5 per cent from the same period last year to MOP7.98 billion, of which beauty cosmetics and skin care products, as well as clothing and footwear increased by 29.9 percent and 22.6 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, the value of total imports for 2018 increased by 18.8 per cent year-on-year to MOP90.1 billion, with mobile phones, make-up, skin care products and watches increasing by 52.4 per cent, 51.5 per cent and 25.6 per cent respectively.

The trade deficit of goods for the whole year reached MOP77.91 billion.

Exports to Mainland China fell by 5.1 per cent to MOP2.01 billion, but increased by 14.7 per cent to Hong Kong, and 10 per cent to the European Union.

Coming in at MOP24.56 million were exports to Portuguese speaking countries, an increase of 29 per cent.

In 2018, the total foreign trade volume totalled MOP102.3 billion, an increase of 17.4 per cent from MOP87.13 billion in 2017.
