Air Macau boosts flight frequencies to top Asian destinations for summer travel season

Air Macau, the flagship carrier of the city, has announced a significant expansion of its flight frequencies to popular travel spots in Asia for the months of July and August.

The airline will operate additional flights to hot destinations such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan, in a bid to expand its international market and attract more overseas visitors.

According to public broadcaster TDM, the local airline expects that this move will provide greater convenience to local residents traveling abroad, making it easier to access these sought-after destinations. The frequency of flights between the SAR and Seoul will go up to one per day, while the number of daily flights to Singapore will increase to one.

Air Macau will operate four flights per day to Taiwan, with two flights each to Taipei and Kaohsiung. Thailand routes will see an increase to thirteen weekly flights, with eight to Don Mueang and five to Bangkok.

As for Japan, there will be nine weekly flights, including four to Tokyo and five to Osaka. The airline will also run eight weekly flights to Vietnam, with four to Hanoi and four to Da Nang.

Despite a challenging year for the aviation industry, Air Macau is determined to improve its services and meet the demands of its customers. As of last year, the company had a fleet of 17 planes, down by six compared to 2019.

The company’s loss attributable to shareholders widened by nearly 30 per cent to RMB871 million (MOP1.02 billion/ USD126.5 million) last year, with its operating revenue down by about 23 per cent year on year to RMB718 million.
