Chief Executive, top officials pay tribute to Jiang Zemin


Macau Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng and the SAR’s top officials paid tribute  on Thursday to former President Jiang  Zemin, who passed away on Wednesday. 

Ho Iat Seng, Vice Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mr Ho Hau Wah and the Director of the Liaison Office, Zheng Xincong, along with other Macau-based top officials, attended the memorial service held on Thursday morning at the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the SAR. They bowed three times before a picture of the late leader, as a mark of respect.

Members of the Executive Council, members of the Legislative Assembly, and judicial officials, as well as over 300 officials from various public departments, arrived at the memorial chamber to pay tribute to the former president in the afternoon.

Ho Iat Seng issued an executive order indicating that to express the deep regret felt at the passing of Jiang Zemin, the national and regional flags will be flown at half-mast between December 1 and the date of the memorial ceremony, which will be held in Beijing on December 6.
