Fiscal reserve gains MOP4.13 bln in January

Macau’s financial reserve gained MOP4.13 billion (USD 416 million) in January, bringing the SAR’s total reserves to MOP585.5 billion (USD73 billion), according to official data published on Wednesday.

The city’s final reserve has been recovering on the heels of taxes collected on gaming revenue after the post-pandemic reopening since early last year. However, the total amount still falls short of the MOP669.7 billion (USD 83.7 billion) figure reached in February 2021.

Macau’s financial reserve gained MOP22.2 billion (USD 2.77 billion) last year, after having lost almost four times as much the previous year.

The value of the extraordinary reserve at the end of January was MOP427.1 billion (USD 53.3 billion), and the basic reserve was MOP153.4 billion (USD 19.1 billion), data published on the SAR’s Official Gazette by the Monetary Authority of Macau indicate
