Gov’t closes non-emergency public services until July 1

Public services in Macau will remain closed for another week, until July 1, “with the exception of those providing urgent and indispensable services to the public,” according to an executive order issued by the Chief Executive this morning and published in the Official Gazette.

The decision has been taken with the aim of preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic as the city struggles with a local outbreak, which has led to at least 190 confirmed cases, according to the latest update.

The executive order to keep non-emergency services closed “does not prevent the directors of public services from determining that Public Administration workers attend the service or provide service for reasons of support for the prevention of the epidemic or any other reason of public interest.”
