Macau | Explosion in Inner Harbour restaurant suspected to be caused by LPG gas leak

Macau (MNA) – An explosion which occurred in a restaurant located on R. do Dr. Lourenco Pereira Marques in the Inner Harbour at 6:00am was suspected to be caused by “a leak of liquefied petroleum gas,” according to a spokesperson of the Fire Services Bureau (CB).

According to the representative, four were injured during the explosion.

Three men and one woman, all staff of the restaurant, were affected.

Two men, aged 40 and 20 years respectively, were sent to Conde Sao Januario Hospital.

The 40-year-old victim had suffered burns on both forearms, his face, abdomen and thighs, while the 20-year-old victim had suffered injuries on his face, head and palms.

The other two victims, a 37-year-old male Macau resident, and a female 29-year-old Chinese national were sent to Kiang Wu Hospital.

The 37-year-old victim had suffered first degree burns of his feet, and injuries of his plate bone.

The 29-year-old female had suffered slight injuries, bruising and was conscious when she was hospitalised.

During the investigation, CB did not find any negligence on the part of the restaurant owner in regards to storage of gas canisters in the restaurant.
