Macau | Gov’t received applications of 12 smoking lounges by two casinos

Macau (MNA) – The Health Bureau (SS) has received applications from two casinos – Ponte 16 and MGM Cotai – to build 12 smoking lounges in their properties as of March 21, the Bureau revealed on Wednesday.

The SS states that other casinos are also preparing for applying to set up smoking lounges in their properties.

In accordance with the newly passed smoking ban, aside from smoking lounges that are approved by the government, smoking will be completely banned in casinos starting from January 1 of 2019.

The Bureau noted that casino operators must submit full documents to the SS prior September 28 this year, warning that smoking lounges would not be allowed to be operated, even if approvals are secured after January 1 of 2019.
