Macau | Hengqin to allow more Macau-licensed vehicles

Macau (MNA) – The Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department will allow more Macau-licensed vehicles to enter Hengqin, up from 100 vehicles to 800 vehicles, the Department announced on Tuesday in a press release.

The revised policy is to be implemented following the announcement, with 18 measures stated by the Department for the integration of the Greater Bay Area Initiative.

In addition to the increase on the number of vehicles allowed to enter Hengqin, there is also a measure addressing non-transferable cross-boundary vehicle licences. The Department stated that licenses can be reactivate after an evaluation is conducted by the attendant authority.

Meanwhile, a firefighting system will be set up for the protection of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. The Department indicated that one major fire station will be located on the artificial island with the border crossing facility between the Macau SAR and Zhuhai, while the two artificial islands that connect the bridge’s underwater tunnel will also have fire stations on duty. Additional stations will be set up on the borders of the MSAR and Hong Kong SAR.
