Macau (MNA) – The construction of a rail transit line to connect the Hengqin New Area and the Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport has commenced, the official Zhuhai Government website disclosed on Tuesday.
The project under construction, started on March 16, is part of a major intercity MRT rail line to link the Pearl River Delta and Mainland China with the Macau SAR.
The transit line will run northwestward with Jinwan Station to be constructed on the north side of Hengqin Mountain.
The first phase of construction connecting Gongbei to Hengqin began in 2014 and is expected to ‘meet acceptance requirements’ later this year.
Meanwhile, Zhuhai Government has stated that the construction of the Jinhai Avenue Bridge, which will facilitate services of highway and railway to later connect the Zhuhai Airport and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, will commence soon.
