Macau | Winds to intensify by midweek due to Typhoon Yutu

Macau (MNA) – Winds in Macau will intensify by mid-to-late week, due to the approach of strong typhoon Yutu and the effect of the northeast monsoon, the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) stated in its latest bulletin.

Yutu is expected to enter the South China Sea later on Tuesday.

As of Monday 5:00 pm, the typhoon was located near the east of Luzon, in the Philippines – where it is known as Typhoon Rosita – and was moving westwards.

According to the latest forecast update by the Japan Meteorological Agency, Yutu is expected to move west northwest on Tuesday morning, at 15 kilometres per hour.

Maximum wind speed at the centre could reach 48 kilometres per hour and maximum wind gusts 64 kilometres per hour.

The local weather authority also stated that it is expected the strong typhoon will weaken and then turn to move northwards gradually.

As per the safety routine, the public is advised to pay attention to the latest updates issued by the Bureau.
