Neto Valente seeks new term as Lawyers Association head unopposed

Jorge Neto Valente leads the only list of candidates for the governing bodies of the Macau Lawyers Association, as the the deadline for submission of candidacies ended yesterday, Macau News Agency has learned.

While Valente is set to serve his tenth back-to-back two-year term as president, there will be a new secretary-general, which is the second-ranked post in the Association.

Lee Kam Iut is set to become Secretary-General of the Macau Lawyers Association, second only to Neto Valente

Lee Kam Iut, who was already a member of the executive committee, replaces Paulino Comandante who will now join the Association’s Superior Council of Macau Lawyers.

Out of the seven members of the future executive body, four are women, all ethnically Chinese. Newcomer Helena Kok joins incumbents Lee Kam Iut and Regina Ng as well as Wong Pou Ngai, who became a member of executive board earlier this year.

Incumbent members, Álvaro Rodrigues and Luís Cavaleiro Ferreira, will continue to serve alongside Neto Valente. The proposed names for the General Assembly Board and the Supervisory Board also remain unchanged: Philip Xavier and Rui Cunha respectively.
