Ponte 16 reports EBITDA loss of US$5.8 mln in 2022

Success Universe Group – an investor of Ponte 16 – announced that the property recorded an adjusted EBITDA loss of HKD46.2 million (MOP47.6 million/US$5.8 million) in 2022, compared to approximately HKD57.6 million reported for the previous year.

The group’s shared loss of associates relating to Ponte 16 was HKD42.1 million for the year ending 31 December 2022, down 13 per cent from HKD48.7 million recorded for the last corresponding year.

As of 31 December 2022, the casino of Ponte 16 operating under SJM’s licence, had 109 gaming tables in operation, consisting of 101 mass tables and 8 high-limit tables.

The average hotel occupancy rate for Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 was about 48 per cent in 2022, compared with 52 per cent reported a year earlier.

The group said in a stock filing released yesterday (Thursday) that its revenue for 2022 was HKD114.8 million, down by 24 per cent year-on-year from HKD151.1 million recorded a year earlier.

Its loss attributable to the owners of the company for the reporting period was HKD287.1 million, reversing the 2021 profit of approximately HKD4.9 million.

It was mainly due to a substantial fair value loss on the group’s overseas listed equity securities of HKD174.1 million, and a fair value loss on the group’s investment properties, as well as a write-down of the carrying amount of the group’s properties of HKD20.6 million.

As at 31 December 2022, the company had net current assets of HKD24.6 million and net assets of HKD719.4 million.

Due to positive recovery momentum for the SAR’s casinos, as well as infrastructure development and government policies, the group is “optimistic about Macau’s future” .

The company believes that the mass market holds” the most potential for sustainable growth”, and its casino resort Ponte 16 located in the Inner Harbour area will “maintain its leading position”.
