UPDATED – All citizens required to self-test again today and tomorrow

All Macau citizens have been asked by health authorities to carry out a new round of Covid rapid antigen tests (RAT) by themselves today (June 25) and tomorrow (June 26).

“With the exception of those in designated areas who are required to collect samples at testing stations, the population must stay at home, suspend non-essential activities and reduce mobility in society to reduce the risk of cross-contamination,” a statement from the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre issued early this afternoon said.

Health authorities add that if someone has a positive result in the rapid antigen test, this person and the other cohabitants in the household must stay at home and wait for the authorities to carry out the health inspection.

This comes as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to increase.

The latest update provided by health authorities at the 5pm press conference indicates 170 confirmed cases.

It is the second round of RAT after the one conducted on Wednesday (June 22).

A rapid antigen test is a rapid diagnostic test suitable for point-of-care testing that directly detects the presence or absence of an antigen. In addition to the three kits distributed in the first citywide mass nucleic acid testing (NAT) drive held between Sunday and Tuesday, another two sets were handed out in the second community-wide NAT programme which took place yesterday and today (Friday).

Instructions and procedures related to the RAT self-test can be found here: https://www.ssm.gov.mo/apps1/covidagtest/pt.aspx#clg21987

Citizens will need to submit the test results via the following platform: https://app.ssm.gov.mo/generalrat
